Privacy Policy — Bookify

Effective date: May 31, 2026

Bookify ("the app", "we", "us") is a personal reading tracker for iPhone and iPad. This policy explains what data the app handles and how. The short version: Bookify does not collect, sell, or share your personal data, and we — the developers — have no access to your reading data.

Data you create stays yours

Everything you enter in Bookify — your books, reading sessions, notes, reading goals, badges, streaks, and progress — is stored locally on your device.

If you are signed in to iCloud, this data is automatically synced through your private iCloud account (Apple CloudKit) so it stays consistent across your devices. This sync is handled entirely by Apple. The data is stored in your private iCloud database, scoped to your Apple Account. We cannot see, access, or retrieve it. Apple's handling of this data is governed by the Apple Privacy Policy.

If you are not signed in to iCloud, your data simply stays on your device and is not synced anywhere.

Camera

Bookify can use your device camera only to scan an ISBN barcode when you add a book. The camera image is processed on your device to read the barcode. No images are stored or transmitted. You can use the app fully without granting camera access by entering book details manually.

Book metadata lookups (Google Books)

When you scan or look up a book, the app sends the book's ISBN or search term to the Google Books API to retrieve public information such as title, author, and cover image. These requests contain only the book identifier — no personal information, no account identifier, and nothing that identifies you is sent. Google's handling of these requests is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

What we do NOT do

Notifications

If you enable reading reminders, Bookify schedules local notifications on your device. These are generated and delivered on-device and are not sent through any external service.

Children's privacy

Bookify is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children.
